Three Memphis area families received grants of $1000 each to help defray the cost of adopting a child. These are the first grants given out from the new Thomas Hatcher Adoption Grant.
There are 151 million orphans around the world. If every Christian family adopted just one child, that number would be zero. We encourage Christian families to adopt, but it can cost up to $50,000.
At Trinity we believe that adoption is a beautiful, blessed, and Biblical way to make a family. God commanded the ancient Israelites to care for widows, orphans, and strangers – the most vulnerable members of society. Moses was adopted. Queen Esther was adopted. Jesus was adopted by his earthly father, Joseph. To celebrate National Adoption Month, we are thrilled to award the Thomas Hatcher Adoption Grant to 3 great families.
The Guelzows are adopting their second son from South Korea. Nate is the Pastor of the LCMS church plant, New Tribe. Erin is a stay-at-home mom. Their oldest son is in Kindergarten. They traveled to Korea to receive their 2nd son in January.
The Kurtzs are adopting domestically. Josh and Asiyah are the proud parents of a son and a daughter. Soon after receiving our grant, they were matched with a baby boy.
The Mohundros are adopting domestically. David and Cara are parents to a two-year old little girl. After applying for our grant, they got “the call.” After 3 years of waiting, they introduced their baby daughter at Trinity.
We as a congregation are committed to praying for these families. Please pray for smooth transitions for these little ones. We applaud these families for having the courage and the love to care for the fatherless.
