Trinity Lutheran Church
Accountable to: Trinity Lutheran Church Pastor
Purpose: To serve the church by providing comprehensive and broad-based assistance to the Pastor and the congregation. This is accomplished in the following four areas:
- Administrative Assistant to the Pastor: Responsibilities include preparing and printing materials for Sunday services, classes, or special events, and other duties as requested.
- Office Manager: Responsibilities include keeping the offices stocked with supplies, processing incoming mail and deliveries, maintaining an organized office space including records and files, and overseeing the use and maintenance of all office equipment. The office administrator also assists in the financial operation of the church by performing various tasks on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Receptionist: The Office Administrator is often the first person to greet visitors in person, as well as by phone and by email. It is important to maintain a friendly demeanor while receiving and relaying messages and information in a professional manner.
- Communications Hub: This is a large part of this position and involves many different areas of the church. Responsibilities include working with volunteers to accomplish tasks, keeping the main church calendar, promoting events and activities, creating and printing bulletins, calendars, flyers, church directories, worship schedules, and newsletters, as well as electronic communications.
Skill Requirements: PC competence is necessary particularly with MS-Office programs: Word, Excel, & Publisher. Experience with general office equipment such as printers, calculators, etc. Willingness to learn software for mass emails (currently using MailChimp). A familiarity with some type of church membership database is desirable.
General Requirements: Candidate should possess a high level of personal integrity, a gift for organization and attention to detail, along with the ability to be self-motivated. The Office Administrator often works alone but should be flexible when working as part of the Church Staff team. It is vital to maintain confidentiality and to reflect the love and grace of Jesus in all interactions.
