What should I expect on Sunday?

When you come to Trinity, you can expect a place where you can come as you are. God loves you with an amazing love! He cares about you and meeting you where you are, and so do we.

When you come to Trinity, you don’t have to have life figured out or pretend you’ve got life all together if you don’t. Really, none of us do. It’s okay to have questions. In fact, we invite your questions through our text2talk time after worship services.

When you come to Trinity, you can expect to meet real people: imperfect people who sin and make mistakes just like everyone else, people in need of grace and forgiveness, people who have real needs and concerns, who experience real joys and challenges and heartaches.

When you come to Trinity, you can expect to safely park at no cost in the Best Buy parking lot across the street from the church and be greeted and helped by the best security guard in town!

When you come to Trinity, you can expect to see people dressed in a variety of ways, from casual to more formal “church clothes.”

When you come to Trinity, you can expect authentically spiritual worship in which God is really present. That’s Jesus’ promise – that He is with us! From start to finish, worship at Trinity is founded on God’s living Word through which He comes to us with His love and grace, care and guidance.

At Trinity we refer to the worship service as the “Divine Service,” and it incorporates God’s Word throughout in the “liturgy.” Liturgy comes from a Greek word which means “service.” All of this simply means that worship always starts with our Lord coming to us to be with us and “serving” us with His gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation – all earned for us by the Son of God, Jesus, in His life, death, and resurrection. Think about that! Our risen and glorified Lord continues to serve us! We experience the Lord Jesus, and He grows and strengthens our connection to Him and each other. In turn, we respond with worship by our praise, prayers, and thanksgiving in word and song.

How to dress?

Some like to dress up, some dress casually. We would never want formality, or lack thereof, to be a stumbling block for you to hearing the message of Jesus Christ, experiencing His love and grace for you, and connecting with Him with us. What’s most important to us is that you’re here.

Where do I park?

We have free parking in the Best Park parking lot across the street from the church. Beverly, our security guard, is always ready to help and assist you if you experience any kind of problem.

Where to go once I'm here?

After you’re safely parked, you cross the street and enter through the main church doors. We have signs once you come through the door to point you in the right direction. We also have greeters ready to welcome you and answer any questions you might have. Whether you’re headed toward the sanctuary for worship, one of our Connecting2Christ groups, the nursery, or a bathroom, you’ll always find signs or helpful people to direct you!

What is the Divine Service like?

As noted above, Trinity is a “liturgical” church. That means each Sunday we follow one several orders of service, our services are based on the living Word of God from beginning to end. Through His Word, the Lord comes to be with and serve us. We experience and worship Him in the various parts of the service and in our singing of hymns and songs. The entire worship service is printed in the worship bulletin and very easy to follow.

What about communion?

At Trinity, we celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday. The Scriptures teach us that we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins, the strengthening of our faith, and the strengthening of our connection to one another as God’s people. At Trinity, we follow the Scriptural practice of “Close Communion.” Close Communion is also the practice of our church body, The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS). This simply means that those who commune together share a common confession of faith. If you are not currently a confirmed member of an LCMS congregation, but are interested in communing, we ask that you first speak with our pastor before receiving the Lord’s Supper. If a Christian and not communing, we invite and welcome you to come forward for a blessing. It is a blessing for our pastor to give you the blessing of the Lord! Come with your arms crossed across your chest, indicating you’d like to receive a blessing from the pastor. Don’t worry about standing out. We do this all the time.

Will I have to stand up to introduce myself?

No. You can expect smiles and a “Hello, it’s great to meet you” from our members, but we will not single you out as a visitor at the worship service.

What if my kids are noisy?

The sound of babies and young children in worship is a joyful noise to the Lord and us! We welcome all children to worship the Lord with us. We firmly believe the words of God in Isaiah 55:10-11, “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Even when young children can’t verbalize what’s happening or what they’ve heard, we trust the Holy Spirit is at work through God’s living Word, creating and growing even the youngest children in faith.

We have a “cry room” located right off of the sanctuary, as well as a staffed nursery for children 4 years old and younger, should you need them. The cry room and nursery have audio of the service, and you are able to see the front of the sanctuary through the glass of the cry room.

What if I don't know "Church-Speak?"

No problem! Every element of the service is printed in the worship bulletin, along with explanations and Biblical references for each part. If you have questions, concerns, or needs, Pastor Croom is here to answer them and to meet them. Whether you’re a life-long Lutheran looking for a church home, or you’ve never set foot in a Church before and are just looking for something more in your life, you’ll find a warm welcome and an unintimidating worship experience here at Trinity.

What if I've done sinful things?

Then you’ve come to the right place. Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection is all about forgiving sins. There is no sin greater than God’s forgiveness. Every sin can be forgiven in Christ. You are more than welcome to bring your sins, your hurts, and your baggage, that you might come away with Christ’s forgiveness, His Life, and His salvation. Romans 5 says, “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. … God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus says in John 6:37, “Whoever comes to me, I will never drive away.” Neither will we drive you away.

What if I have questions?

We have text2talk! Have you ever wanted to know more about something you heard during the sermon? Have you ever wondered what something in one of the readings might mean for your life? Have you ever questioned why we do something in particular as part of the service? You may have questions. We want to answer your questions! And so, we want you to text us. That’s right! We want and invite you to text at church! If you do have questions about the service, sermon, readings, hymns, or anything else, you can text your questions to 901.665.3665 at the end of the service, and Pastor Croom will take 5 to 10 minutes of our fellowship time immediately after the service to talk about them. We do ask that you wait until the end of the service to text your question(s) in order to avoid possibly distracting other worshipers around you during the service.
